Eveline Buchatskiy

Managing Partner of D3 — Dare to Defend Democracy — the Kyiv-based venture fund that was backing pure-play defense technology when, in her words, you could call the idea crazy. Brazilian-born and trained as a chemical engineer at UC Berkeley, she moved to Ukraine in 2007. She ran the East Labs accelerator, whose first investment became Preply, led the Techstars Boston program, and was on the leadership team of airSlate — 850 of its people were in Kyiv when the full-scale invasion began. D3 launched in July 2023, at a moment when not a single bank would open an account for a defense-tech fund, and now holds 27 portfolio companies across air, land, sea and the software that binds them.
